Revanth Reddy Calls for Greater Use of Technology in Agriculture

From seeds to procurement, the Agriculture Department, Civil Supplies, and Agriculture University should work in coordination: CM

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy here on Tuesday underscored the need for effective utilization of technology in the agriculture department.

Participating in a review meeting, he said that use of technology should be further increased in the agriculture department and Artificial Intelligence (AI) should also be used effectively. The Agriculture University should be made the nodal agency for this to increase the use of technology.

From seeds to procurement, the Agriculture Department, Civil Supplies, and Agriculture University should work in coordination. Efforts should be made to reduce Markfed losses and Oilfed should be strengthened further.

Stating that seven types of fine grain seeds that give bonuses must be made available on subsidy, Revanth Reddy said the seeds should be made available in Rythu Vedikas.

Data of farmers who grow fine grain should be collected and the agriculture department should have a complete understanding of grain yield. The pilot project should be started at Dammapeta mandal in Bhadradri Kothagudem.

An app should be made available to inform about availability of fertilizers and booking of urea must be done through it and it should be distributed through Rythu Vedika. The responsibility of urea distribution should be entrusted to the District Additional Collector.

A letter should be written to the Centre from time to time on the allocation of urea and other fertilizers. Pressure should be built on the Centre to give fertilizers produced in Ramagundam fertilizer factory to Telangana.

A meeting of MPs from all parties should be held to explain the situation related to availability of fertilizers in the State, he added.
