Revanth Pitches for Dattatreya as India’s VP
Revanth Reddy pledged to lobby Congress leadership on Dattatreya’s behalf but conceded that the final decision rests with the party.

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Wednesday urged the BJP to nominate former Union minister and ex-Governor Bandaru Dattatreya, an OBC leader from Telangana, as the next Vice-President of India.
Speaking at a Delhi press conference, Revanth Reddy called Jagdeep Dhankhar’s resignation “unfortunate” and argued that the Vice-President’s post should go to Telangana. He noted that Telugu is India’s second most spoken language after Hindi and said appointing a Telangana native would right a historical wrong.
“We deserve our due,” Revanth Reddy declared. “You cannot continue this injustice to the people of Telangana. Telugu follows only Hindi in national usage.” He added that choosing Dattatreya would atone for past slights, including the removal of Telugu speaking leaders M. Venkaiah Naidu and Dattatreya himself, and the ousting of BJP’s Telangana chief Bandi Sanjay Kumar.
Revanth Reddy pledged to lobby Congress leadership on Dattatreya’s behalf but conceded that the final decision rests with the party. He warned that true national stability requires removing the BJP led NDA from power, citing the coalition’s neglect of OBC and South Indian leaders.
