Revanth Leaves for Delhi, Likely To Meet AICC Leaders

CM to brief high command on summit gains, state politics and poll preparedness

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy left for Delhi on Wednesday. Revanth Reddy’s sudden departure to Delhi sparked intense speculation within the Congress. He proceeded directly to the Shamshabad airport after addressing a public meeting at the Osmania University Arts College Grounds, choosing to travel by a regular commercial flight.

While neither the Chief Minister’s Office nor the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) offered clarity on the purpose of the visit, senior party leaders indicated that Revanth Reddy is heading to the national capital to brief the Congress high command on multiple key developments in the state. Prominent among these is the grand success of the Telangana Rising Global Summit 2025, held at Bharat Future City on December 8 and 9, which secured investment commitments exceeding ₹5.75 lakh crore, the highest ever attracted by the state in such an event. The Chief Minister is also expected to present the newly released Telangana Rising Vision 2047 document, which was unveiled at the summit.

According to party sources, the Chief Minister will meet senior AICC leaders including Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and K.C. Venugopal on Thursday. He is expected to brief them not only on the summit outcomes but also on the political situation in Telangana, developments within the government, and organisational issues in the party against the backdrop of Congress government completing two years in office on December 7. Revanth Reddy is also scheduled to attend private engagements in the national capital on Wednesday night.

With the gram panchayat elections polling scheduled in three phases on December 11, 14 and 17 — the Chief Minister is likely to discuss electoral preparedness. Though these polls are not fought on party symbols, the Congress, BRS and BJP are backing candidates. Revanth is determined to secure victory in 90 per cent of gram panchayats.

The Chief Minister is also likely to seek approval from the high command for holding zilla parishad, mandal parishad and municipal elections, which are long pending and which are contested on party symbols. The Congress government passed legislation ensuring 42% reservation for BCs in these polls, but implementation has been stalled due to a High Court stay. Revanth is expected to press for the party’s endorsement to allot 42% of Congress tickets to BC candidates.

Further, Revanth Reddy is likely to brief party leaders on the need to fill two vacant cabinet berths, with the expansion expected after the conclusion of the local body polls. He is also seeking clearance to complete appointments to several pending nominated posts, for which the groundwork is reportedly finished.

Party insiders said the Chief Minister wants to highlight his government’s achievements over the past two years, the synergy within the cabinet, and the forward momentum on governance initiatives.
