Revanth Blames In-Charge Ministers for Telangana Losing 21% Votes

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Thursday said Telangana was set to lose 21 per cent of its votes in the ongoing special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and directed Congress leaders to ensure that eligible voters retained their names in the final rolls.

Addressing a virtual meeting of the state Congress on the SIR, Revanth Reddy placed the responsibility on in-charge ministers and directed them to undertake field visits and hold district-level review meetings over the next two days to assess the situation.

Expressing concern over the deletion of lakhs of names, he asked district Congress presidents to obtain details of voters marked for deletion from election authorities and take measures to retain all eligible voters on the rolls. The Chief Minister also directed Assembly constituency in-charges to remain in their constituencies for four days, identify issues and resolve them in coordination with party workers.

“This situation has arisen because those responsible — from in-charge ministers down to the booth level — failed to discharge their duties properly. The in-charge ministers concerned must immediately hold review meetings with the in-charges of Parliamentary and Assembly constituencies in their respective districts,” he said during the virtual meet.

Revanth Reddy also asked party leaders to highlight what he alleged was a conspiracy by the BJP and BRS to delete votes. “These are clear directives from the AICC. Failure to proceed with a robust action plan will result in significant political damage in the future. Alongside resolving issues related to the SIR process, you must expose the conspiracy by the BJP and BRS to delete votes to the public. Everyone must step forward and shoulder this responsibility,” he emphasised.
