Revanth Asks Officials to Arrange Security for Ganesha Festival
He said advance information on mandap locations and guests would help the police anticipate crowd movement, make security arrangements and respond quickly to any unforeseen incidents
Hyderabad:Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Saturday directed the police and civic authorities to put in place fool-proof security and traffic arrangements for the nine-day Ganesh festivities beginning September 14. The Chief Minister asked Ganesha mandap organisers to share advance details of their locations and invited guests to enable deployment of adequate security personnel and precautionary measures.
Addressing a review meeting with ministers, officials and Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Samiti representatives at the Conference Hall of the Legislative Council, Revanth Reddy directed the police and municipal administration officials to continuously monitor the situation until the celebrations conclude.
He said advance information on mandap locations and guests would help the police anticipate crowd movement, make security arrangements and respond quickly to any unforeseen incidents. It would also facilitate traffic management and deployment of personnel at sensitive and high-footfall locations.
The Chief Minister suggested setting up a dedicated control room at the government’s Integrated Command Control Centre and appointing special officers for coordination and supervision of the arrangements.
Revanth Reddy said the government had revived the practice of holding a review meeting with Ganesha festival organisers to understand their problems and ensure that the celebrations were conducted smoothly.
Stressing that Hyderabad could attract investments only if peace and law and order were maintained, he appealed to mandap organisers to cooperate with the authorities in ensuring a peaceful festival. He said the government was ready to address their issues to ensure the smooth conduct of the celebrations.
Revanth Reddy said Telangana was providing free electricity to Ganesha mandaps, claiming that such a facility was not available in any other state. He asked organisers to apply to the concerned authorities to avail themselves of the benefit.
He also directed officials to incorporate facilities for Ganesha idol immersions into the design and construction of lakes being developed in Hyderabad, on the lines of arrangements made for Bathukamma celebrations.
