Food Poisoning Cases in Govt Residential Schools; CM Threatens to Dismiss Errant Officials

Hyderabad:Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy fumed at the recurring incidents of food poisoning cases in government residential schools, welfare hostels and gurukuls. Taking a serious view of the matter, he warned officials and staff of immediate dismissal if they are found inept at providing hygienic and nutritious food to students.

"Treat these students as your own children," Reddy advised district collectors and officials concerned, during a review meeting on Thursday.

He instructed them to conduct regular inspections of schools, hostels, and gurukuls to ensure quality food and hygienic conditions. He urged officials to submit detailed inspection reports regularly while making students’ safety and nutrition needs their top priority.

The Chief Minister stressed the importance of accountability, expressing his anger over the repeated lapses despite instructions. “Negligence in serving students will not be tolerated, and those responsible will face dismissal,” he said.

Reddy highlighted his government’s efforts to improve the welfare of students, recruiting thousands of teachers and increasing dietary allowances by 40 per cent recently to ensure nutritious meals. He urged officials to remain vigilant in their implementation.

Meanwhile, he condemned rumours and misinformation about food quality in hostels, which, he claimed, were aimed at tarnishing the government’s image and creating panic among parents. He directed officials to take legal action against individuals or groups responsible for such atrocious acts.
