Retired Employee Duped of Rs.13 Lakh
The scammers shared fake SEBI and CDSL registration numbers and convinced the victim to open a trading account. He was lured by initial profits shown on the fake portal and invested larger amounts.

Hyderabad: A government pensioner from Nagole lost nearly ₹13 lakh to cyber fraudsters who operated a fake trading platform disguised as a legitimate investment service.
The fraud was carried out via WhatsApp groups, forged documents, and a fake trading portal. The victim joined a group on June 19, run by people posing as financial experts, including one impersonating a chief investment officer.
The scammers shared fake SEBI and CDSL registration numbers and convinced the victim to open a trading account. He was lured by initial profits shown on the fake portal and invested larger amounts.
Later, he was offered 1,100 fake shares of a fictitious company, valued at ₹43 lakh, promising ₹1.1 crore in returns. When he attempted to withdraw, the fraudsters blocked it with false loan repayment clauses.
Realising the scam, the victim cross-checked with the Shoonya platform and confirmed it was a fraud. He had lost ₹12,95,000 in eight transactions. A case was registered with Rachakonda cyber crime police, who are investigating the group’s origin.
Woman Abducted in Shamshabad
Hyderabad: A 28-year-old woman was allegedly abducted and assaulted near a private hospital in Shamshabad on Tuesday afternoon, in what police suspect to be a fallout of a personal grudge over a ₹4-lakh loan.
Kondakalla Padmaja, a farmer from Aloor in Chevella, had gone to the hospital around 1.30 pm to deliver clothes to her husband, who is undergoing psychiatric treatment. As she stepped out around 2 pm to buy fruits, she was allegedly forced into a waiting car by fellow villager Kammeta Vijay Goud and his associates, Venkatesh and Sai.
Shamshabad inspector K. Narender Reddy said Padmaja had earlier lent ₹4 lakh to Vijay Goud. When she demanded repayment, a quarrel reportedly broke out. During the alleged abduction, Goud, who was driving, is said to have assaulted and threatened her. As Padmaja resisted, the car crashed into another vehicle on the Outer Ring Road service lane near Kothwalguda.
Both the woman and the accused sustained injuries and were taken to a nearby private hospital by RGIA police. Police said all the injured are in stable condition. The victim’s family was alerted and reached the hospital soon after. Padmaja later filed a complaint with the police. A case has been registered and further investigation is ongoing.
Congress Leader’s Mother Murdered
Hyderabad: A 70-year-old woman, mother of a Congress leader, was murdered and her body dumped in an abandoned water tank near her home in Nachupally of Kodimyal mandal, Jagtial district. Locals spotted the body and informed the police.
The victim was identified as Prema Latha, the mother of Manneni Raja Narsinga Rao, chairman of the Kodimyal primary agriculture cooperative society and a Congress leader. Police said unknown persons struck her on the head with a heavy stone and dragged the body away.
Prema Latha had recently confided to a neighbour that someone had been threatening her. Police suspect the killers had prior knowledge of the area. Investigators found drag marks and bloodstains on a path leading to an abandoned well. The suspects initially tried to dump the body there but later left it in a disused water tank hidden in nearby bushes.
A dog squad has been deployed and a case registered. Locals are shocked, especially since this comes days after the killing of Ganga Reddy, the main follower of former MLA Jeevan Reddy, in the same region.
Held for Online Harassment
Hyderabad: The Santoshnagar police registered cases against some individuals for allegedly harassing a woman by posting her morphed photographs on social media and issuing threats.
According to police, the woman lodged a complaint against Khaja Aleem Uddin, M.A. Qavi Abbasi, and Ibrahim ul Haq. Ibrahim allegedly obtained her pictures, edited them, and circulated them online.
The accused also operated fake YouTube channels to publish vulgar content, including fabricated videos alleging an immoral relationship. They also sent threatening WhatsApp voice messages, including death threats to her child.
She alleged that the accused acted at the behest of political leaders and local history-sheeters, causing severe mental trauma to her and her family. Based on the complaint, police booked the accused and launched an investigation.
₹98K Stolen via Stolen Phone
Hyderabad: A 69-year-old retired man from Kothapet lost ₹98,301 through unauthorised UPI transactions after his phone was stolen.
The victim, Kailash Chandra Sharma of Sri Shyam Vatika, New Maruthinagar, lost his mobile phone recently. His son, Vikas, who had the SIM registered in his name, deactivated it and had it reissued. Before the new SIM was activated, cyber fraudsters accessed Sharma’s banking information.
The fraudsters first initiated two ₹1 test transactions, followed by multiple unauthorised transfers the next day. A total of ₹86,000 was withdrawn and sent to a single account in Titanwar branch, Jhunjhunu district, Rajasthan, and then dispersed to other individuals via UPI.
The fraudsters also used Sharma’s Aadhaar credentials to bypass OTP-based authentication. Upon discovering the fraud, Sharma and his son froze all linked accounts and filed a complaint with the Chaitanyapuri police. A case has been registered.
Delivery Agent Caught Siphoning Gas
Hyderabad: A gas delivery agent was caught red-handed by the Hayathnagar police while illegally transferring gas from full cylinders into empty ones at a residence in Kuntloor village.
According to a complaint by constable K. Praveen Kumar, police patrolling near Kuntloor X Roads around 7 pm noticed a strong smell of gas from a house. On inspection, they caught a man trying to flee the scene.
He was identified as Manupati Suresh, 36, employed with an LPG supplier since 2008. Suresh confessed to siphoning gas illegally to supplement his income, as his salary was insufficient to support his family.
Police found 44 cylinders at the spot — 27 full, 17 empty — and a gas filling rod. The transfer was being done without any safety measures. All cylinders were seized. A case has been registered and further investigation is on.
Toddler Injured in Tractor Mishap
Hyderabad: An 18-month-old boy continues to suffer from serious injuries after being run over by a tractor over two years ago at Raipole.
According to a complaint by the child’s father, Neerudu Arun, the incident occurred on June 3, 2023, when his son Devansh was playing in their premises in Gandhi Nagar. A local farmer, Rasula Srinu, drove his tractor negligently and ran over the child, causing multiple internal injuries, including a ruptured urinary bladder.
The child was rushed to a nearby hospital and later to another facility in Hasthinapuram. He underwent bladder surgery on June 5, 2023. Due to complications, multiple surgeries followed at Osmania General Hospital and Niloufer Hospital.
The accused initially promised to bear medical expenses but failed to do so. When approached again, he allegedly abused the father. A formal complaint was lodged with the Ibrahimpatnam police.
Woman Alleges Cheating by Relative in Love Affair Case
Hyderabad: A 24-year-old woman had reached out to the Madhuranagar police alleging being cheated by her relative, on Thursday, following a love affair. In this regard, a zero-FIR was registered with the Madhuranagar police and was transferred to the KPHB police.
According to the complaint, the woman, a native of Bapatla in Andhra Pradesh, came into contact with a relative. The two grew close and the relative reportedly assured her of marriage. Based on his assurances, the woman reportedly filed for a divorce with her husband and got into a relationship with the accused.
She alleged that the relative convinced her to get physically intimate. She later found out she was pregnant. When informed, the relative reportedly started preparing for his marriage with another woman.
Following this, a zero FIR was registered under Section 69 of the BNS (sexual intercourse obtained through deceitful means). The KPHB police said that they are yet to receive the FIR or a formal complaint by the woman herself. An investigation would begin soon after the facts of the case are known, KPHB police said.
