Resolving 74 Per Cent Grievances in Praja Vani is Great Achievement: Bhatti

The Deputy Chief Minister explained that Praja Vani is a revolutionary decision collectively taken by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy along with the entire Cabinet, reaffirming that government and governance are meant solely for the people

Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, said Prajavani, the public grievances redressal programme, had resolved almost 74 per cent of the plaints it had received over two years. He described it as a unique initiative not implemented anywhere else in the country.

Bhatti said that of the 1,07,829 petitions received through Prajavani, 64,623 had been resolved, while 48,064 were being processed. He was speaking at an event to mark the programme completing two years.

Prajavani is conducted twice a week at the Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Praja Bhavan in Begumpet, and is the Congress government’s efforts to directly engage with citizens and resolve their problems.

Speaking at the event to mark two years of Prajavani along with ministers and senior officials, Bhatti said the programme reflected a collective and revolutionary decision taken by the Congress government under the leadership of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, reinforcing the belief that governance exists solely to serve the people.

Bhatti noted that applications were being received regularly on Tuesdays and Fridays, enabling citizens to present their grievances directly before ministers and officials. Successful resolution of a large proportion of petitions, he said, was a remarkable achievement made possible only by the committed efforts of officials and staff. He assured that the remaining petitions, which were still under process, would also be addressed in a phased manner.

Expressing satisfaction that the objective behind launching Prajavani was being fulfilled, Bhatti said the programme would continue on a regular basis. He appreciated the introduction of special grievance-tracking software at the state and district levels with the support of the Centre for Good Governance, which had strengthened monitoring and resolution mechanisms.

Bhatti criticised BRS leaders for ruling the state for a decade without opening Praja Bhavan — then used as the residence of K. Chandrashekar Rao and called Pragathi Bhavan — to the public but were now making superficial comments on Prajavani, and likened their criticism to “ghosts reciting the Vedas.”

Bhatti said he attended the meeting primarily to commend officials after hearing several success stories emerging from the programme. Reiterating that the vision and functioning of the present government were people-centric, he called upon citizens to come forward without fear and make use of the platform to resolve their issues.

Transport minister Ponnam Prabhakar presented certificates of appreciation to officials from various departments who played a key role in grievance redressal. He highlighted that a special committee facilitated the reinstatement of 242 RTC employees through Prajavani who had been permanently removed from service during BRS regime.

Beneficiaries also expressed happiness over the allocation of houses to 1,750 double-bedroom housing applicants whose long-pending issues were resolved through Prajavani, along with relief provided to Dalit farmers in Adilabad and Gulf victims through timely intervention.
