Rescued Huskies Total Goes Up To 11

Volunteers from AASRA Foundation said they received a distress call on Tuesday night and reached the location on Wednesday to rescue two huskies.

Hyderabad: The number of rescued Siberian Husky dogs has risen to 11, along with one German Shepherd, in Bhanur village of Shankarpally on Wednesday.

Animal welfare organisations have reported a surge in adoption requests for the rescued huskies. Activists initially found a group of abandoned dogs, and in the following days, more were spotted by villagers as the animals wandered into the village in a dehydrated condition.

Volunteers from AASRA Foundation said they received a distress call on Tuesday night and reached the location on Wednesday to rescue two huskies.

Gowri Vandhana, president of AASRA, told Deccan Chronicle, “We are conducting blood tests, but as the number of rescued dogs is increasing, we plan to involve a government institute for further testing. We have written to the Veterinary Biological and Research Institute for additional tests. Once the process is complete, the huskies will be put up for adoption. We already have over 500 applications from people willing to adopt them.”
