Renuka Yellamma Temple To Be Modelled After Hyderabad’s Peddamma Temple: Ponnam

The minister first visited the temple, offered prayers, and later held a review meeting with temple officials: Reports

KARIMNAGAR: Backward class welfare minister Ponnam Prabhakar on Saturday announced that the Renuka Yellamma Temple in Husnabad, Karimnagar district, would be developed on the lines of the Peddamma Temple in Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad, with facilities for devotees to have meals and rest.

The minister first visited the temple, offered prayers, and later held a review meeting with temple officials. He enquired about pending works and directed them to take all necessary measures to prevent inconvenience to devotees.

Prabhakar also inspected the beautification and development works at Yellamma Lake, taken up at a cost of ₹15 crore. Stating that the lake dates back to the Kakatiya era, he instructed contractors and municipal officials to expedite the work so that significant progress is achieved before the upcoming Bathukamma and Dasara festivals.

The minister announced plans for the establishment of a Haritha Kakatiya Hotel at Kappu Gutta and the introduction of water sports at local lakes. He also reviewed progress on other major projects, including the construction of the Husnabad town hospital and a postgraduate college. Work on road dividers, the double road from Yellamma Lake to Malle Chettu, and the development of the new tank bund is progressing at a fast pace, he added.

Outlining broader development plans for the constituency, Prabhakar mentioned proposals for a new engineering college, an industrial park, the Mahasamudram Gandi Tourism Project, and four-lane roads connecting four neighbouring districts.

He further stressed the importance of completing the Gouravelli Project, calling it a lifeline for local farmers, and urged officials to expedite land acquisition for the canals.
