Remain Vigilant As Electricity Demand Increased In Monsoon: Navin Mittal To Officials
There is significant consumption in industrial, commercial, and domestic sectors: Navin Mittal

Hyderabad: Principal Secretary to the Government, Energy department, Navin Mittal on Monday directed power officials to remain highly vigilant as electricity demand has significantly increased this monsoon season compared to last year, with the potential for further increases in the coming days.
During a video conference with officials of the Southern Power Distribution Company of Telangana, alongside Chairman and Managing Director Musharraf Faruqui, Navin Mittal stated that the Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and the Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka were giving utmost priority to the power sector and were continuously monitoring the power supply.
In Greater Hyderabad, there is significant consumption in industrial, commercial, and domestic sectors. Additionally, with uninterrupted power supply for agriculture, millions of motors are running continuously. As a result, there is a substantial demand even during the monsoon season.
The peak demand, which was 13,541 MW on July 31 last year increased by 14.05 per cent to 15,443 MW on July 16 this year, he said. As paddy sowing picks up momentum, there is a likelihood of a substantial increase in power demand in the coming days. Against this backdrop, Navin Mittal directed officials and staff, from CMD to lower levels, to remain vigilant and take measures to prevent any disruptions.
He specifically instructed officials and staff to be particularly cautious during the monsoon season, ensuring they are available at their offices during rainfall to monitor the power supply.
