Religious Trip Turns Tragic as Devotee Drowns in Godavari
The police registered a case and launched an investigation to ascertain the circumstances leading to the incident

BHUPALPALLY: A religious trip ended on a tragic note as a pilgrim drowned while taking a holy dip in the Godavari River at the sacred shrine of Kaleshwaram in Mahadevpur mandal of Jayashankar Bhupalpally district on Sunday.
According to the police, the deceased was identified as Bobbala Srinivasa Reddy, a resident of Prashanth Nagar in Hanamkonda district. He, along with his wife, Sugdha, had visited the Kaleshwara Mukteswara Swamy temple to offer prayers.
Before entering the temple, the couple took a holy dip in the Godavari River. During the ritual, Srinivasa Reddy accidentally slipped into deeper waters and was swept away by the river's strong current. Local residents and fellow devotees rushed to his rescue after hearing cries for help, but he had already drowned by the time they managed to retrieve him.
Based on a complaint lodged by the victim's wife, the police registered a case and launched an investigation to ascertain the circumstances leading to the incident.
