Religious Fervour, Gaiety Mark Prakash Purab

The celebrations were organised under the aegis of Prabandhak Committee of Gurudwara Saheb Secunderabad. Sikh devotees participated in the 'Vishaal Diwan', a mass congregation by offering prayers to Guru Granth Saheb.

Hyderabad: The 359th Prakash Purab of Guru Gobind Singh concluded at Tivoli gardens here on Sunday.

Thousands of Sikh devotees and people from other communities celebrated it with religious fervour, gaiety and devotion and offered prayers to Guru Granth Saheb.

The celebrations were organised under the aegis of Prabandhak Committee of Gurudwara Saheb Secunderabad. Sikh devotees participated in the 'Vishaal Diwan', a mass congregation by offering prayers to Guru Granth Saheb.

Prabandhak Committee president S. Baldev Singh Bagga, general secretary S. Jagmohan Singh and secretary S. Harpreet Singh Gulati said the congregation was marked by recitations of Gurubani Keertans and Kathas by reputed Ragi Jathas (Sikh preachers).

Ragi Jathas, invited from various parts of the country for the occasion, recited Shabad Keertans that stressed on imbibing the higher values of life and communal harmony for which Guru Gobind Singh strived.

They also highlighted teachings of the Sikh Gurus who stood for national integration, peace, brotherhood and communal harmony. They urged devotees to follow the teachings of Guru Gobind Singh, which are relevant in present days.

After the culmination of the congregation, the traditional Guru-Ka-Langar (free community kitchen) was served to all devotees.
