Regulator Okays New Retail Power Supply Tariff Without Hike
The tariff order includes provisions for increased contracted load limits for electric vehicle charging stations and continuation of grid support and standby charges. Fixed charges for certain categories remain unchanged or reduced, including zero fixed charges for EV charging stations to promote electric vehicles.

Hyderabad: The Telangana State Electricity Regulatory Commission (TGERC) on Tuesday announced the retail power supply tariff for 2025-26, without increasing tariff for any consumer category. These rates will come into effect from May 1 and will be force till March 31, 2026.
All consumer categories will continue receiving power at the existing rates, as the government has reaffirmed its commitment to provide financial support to power utilities, ensuring subsidies for eligible domestic and agricultural consumers. The government will provide a subsidy of `13,499.41 crore for FY 2025-26, an increase of 17.4 per cent over last year, mainly benefiting domestic and agricultural users.
The new tariffs apply to the consumers of southern and northern power distribution companies (TGSPDCL and TGNPDCL) and the Co-operative Electric Supply Society, Sircilla (CESS). The tariff order follows public hearings and consultations held in Sircilla, Hanumakonda, and Hyderabad in March 2025.
The commission approved an aggregate revenue requirement (ARR) of Rs 58,628 crore for the two discoms, lower than the Rs 65,849 crore claimed by them. The CESS, Sircilla has projected the ARR of Rs 654.65 crore against which the ERC has approved Rs 581.38 crore.
As against the total revenue gap at proposed tariffs of Rs 20,151 crore claimed by discoms and Rs 446.21 crore by CESS, the commission has approved the revenue gap of Rs 13,122.04 crore and Rs 377.37 crore for discoms and CESS respectively for FY 2025-26.
The tariff order includes provisions for increased contracted load limits for electric vehicle charging stations and continuation of grid support and standby charges. Fixed charges for certain categories remain unchanged or reduced, including zero fixed charges for EV charging stations to promote electric vehicles.
The discoms will notify consumers about changes in kVAh billing to encourage better power factor management. The detailed tariff schedule is available on the TGERC website and applies to all electricity consumers in Telangana under the respective distribution companies.
