RBI Issues Public Notice To Claim Deposits From Inactive Accounts

Beware of fake messages from cyber fraudsters: RBI

HYDERABAD: The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has issued a public communication through messages regarding the process for tracing and claiming unclaimed deposits lying in bank accounts that have been inactive for over 10 years.Eligible customers may still claim these funds through the prescribed process standing in their name or in the name of their family members only through the official RBI website: https://udgam.rbi.org.in

“Cybercriminals are circulating similar messages pretending to be from the RBI or other banks,” DCP Cyber Crimes V. Arvind Babu, stated in a press release on Wednesday.

“Do not click on any suspicious links received from unverified sources. RBI never sends unsolicited links asking for personal information, account details, or OTPs. Never share your personal information, passwords, bank account details and OTPs to the unverified or unauthorised persons /social media accounts, and you are advised not to fall prey to the fraudsters,” Arvind said.
