Ration Cardholders To Get Fine Rice For 3 Months In View Of Early Monsoon

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad unit of Civil Supplies department here on Saturday asked the ration cardholders from Hyderabad to avail the facility of drawing fine rice for three months - June, July and August in June 2025 itself.
The decision comes following instructions from the Central government, which asked the States to supply rice, wheat and sugar for cardholders for the next three months in June itself in view of early monsoon.
The Centre’s decision was aimed at avoiding any inconvenience to cardholders keeping in view the monsoon that has already set in several parts of the country, officials said.
The distribution of fine rice in Hyderabad will commence from June 1 and continue till June 30. Telangana government has taken measures for distribution of fine rice to the cardholders through Public Distribution System (PDS), said Hyderabad District Civil Supplies Officer A Ramesh.
In Hyderabad district, the department has allocated 45259.677 MTs of fine rice for Hyderabad for June-2025 for the benefit of 6,47,282 ration cardholders. As many as 9709.230 MTs of wheat at the rate of five kgs per card and 88.695 MTs of sugar at the rate one kg per card have been allotted by the government.
Accordingly, action plan has been made and an elaborate meeting has been conducted with all the stakeholders and assistant civil supply officers of Hyderabad and Mandal Level Supply (MLS) point in-charges, contractors, hamalis and fair price (FP) shop dealers and issued strict instructions to keep sufficient stocks well in advance to cope up with the situation.
The department has asked all the cardholders in Hyderabad to avail the facility of drawal of three months ration in June itself. It was also informed that ePoS receipts which are generated during the distribution, will be generated separately i.e., month-wise for three months and ePoS biometric authentication of the beneficiary if each month to be given separately for three months - June, July and August 2025 while drawing food grains at FP Shops.
All the card holders of Hyderabad are also informed to avail the facility of portability to draw their entitlements at any of their nearest convenient fair price shops. Ramesh said the department would initiate stern action if anyone tries to misuse fine rice by selling it to others.
