During the Old City Bonalu Rangam, Anuradha urged youngsters to stay away from drugs and intoxication, while advising families to uphold discipline and moral values.
The Hyderabad Old City Bonalu concluded on Monday evening with the Rangam at
Akkanna Madanna temple, Haribowli. Rangam Anuradha warned youth against
drugs and intoxication, urging people to abandon sinful practices and live
righteously.
Rangam Anuradha assured the devotees of the Goddess’ protection, recommended
performing the Rudra Homam, and criticised pseudo rituals. “Parents should
not give too much freedom to their children. They should be responsible. If
they walk without morals, they will face the consequences,” she said.
After the ritual, the earthen pot on which she stood was broken, and
devotees carried home its fragments.
The Ambari elephant Ghatam procession began from Akkanna Madanna temple
after a puja city police commissioner V.C. Sajjanar. The ghatam, carried on
the elephant, toured the Old City through Bhela, Lal Darwaza crossroads,
Pathergatti, Charminar and Nayapul. At the Mata temple, Nayapul, the Ghatam
was immersed in water, marking the conclusion of the festival.
From the morning, Rangam programmes were held at Nalapochamma temple,
Mahankali temple at Karwan, Akkanna Madanna Mahankali temple, Haribowli,
Mahankal Ammavari temple, Uppuguda, Simhavahini Mahankali temple, Lal
Darwaza and Mahankali temple, Mir Alam Mandi.
With GHMC elections due, several aspirants were active in arranging
gatherings and erecting billboards. Local leaders welcomed devotees at the
festivities.
