Rangam Ritual: Oracle Predicts Bountiful Rains, Warns of More Accidents
Invoking Goddess Sri Mahankali into her, she said that like last year, this time also, the State will register heavy rains
Hyderabad: Rangam ritual was performed on Monday morning at Sri Ujjaini Mahankali Temple in Secunderabad where an oracle woman Swarnalatha standing on a wet earthen pot predicted that more accidents would happen resulting in loss of human lives.
The ritual was conducted on the second day of the Bonalu celebrations.
Invoking Goddess Sri Mahankali into her, she said that like last year, this time also, the State will register heavy rains and at the same time the people should exercise more caution as chances of washing away are more. Chances of registering more losses to human lives are also high. Thus, the people must be careful, she said.
Swarnalatha said this while responding to a question raised by priests during the ritual. When her attention was brought to her notice about the celebrations conducted on a grand note, she said she was dissatisfied with what is happening in the society as most youngsters were resorting to heinous acts irrespective of the relationship.
When the priests urged to show restraint, she criticized the parents' role in it. Expressing displeasure over the delay in installing her idol, she said her idols must be installed in six months.
When the priests tried to convince her stating they could not take it up as some people were creating hurdles, the Oracle woman said, “I am here to look into it. If anyone tries to create obstacles in it then they would bear the brunt and crush them under my feet.”
“Don’t believe that I am happy. I am not at all happy…” she said. The priests assured that the idol installation process would be completed at the earliest this year.
Later, the caparisoned elephant Lakshmi procession with the portrait of Goddesses Sri Mahankali and Manikyalamma was organized from the temple. Smearing vermillion and turmeric paste on their bodies, potharajus dance to the pulsating drum beats in the front.
This marked the culmination of the festival at Ujjaini Mahankali temple.
