Ramchander Rao Stresses Party Unity

BJP state president N. Ramchander Rao asserted that there is no distinction between senior and new leaders within the party, emphasising that all members are equal and bound by party discipline.

Hyderabad: BJP state president N. Ramchander Rao asserted that there is no distinction between senior and new leaders within the party, emphasising that all members are equal and bound by party discipline. He warned that strict action would be taken against anyone violating party decorum, regardless of their seniority or position.

Addressing his first press conference in Delhi after assuming office, Ramchander Rao said he would address internal issues within the state unit swiftly, while the national leadership would continue resolving matters concerning party leaders and cadres.
Lashing out at Congress, the BJP leader accused its leaders of misleading both Telangana and the nation. He termed Rahul Gandhi’s refusal to meet Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, despite repeated requests, is an insult to the people of Telangana.
On the issue of 42 per cent reservations for Backward Classes (BCs) in local bodies, he said the BJP had supported the Bill when Congress introduced it in the Assembly. However, he criticised the ruling party for attempting to extend reservations on religious lines and for ignoring the legal hurdles involved in placing such provisions under the Constitution’s 9th Schedule.
Ramchander Rao reminded that the Supreme Court has repeatedly ruled against bypassing judicial scrutiny through constitutional shelter. Accusing Congress of exploiting the BC community for political gain, he urged the party to fulfil its promise of implementing BC reservations without further delay.
Dismissing talk of factionalism within the BJP as a narrative pushed by outsiders, Ramchander Rao reaffirmed party unity. He shared that he had met senior party leaders including Sunil Bansal, Arvind Menon and Nitin Gadkari during his visit to Delhi, and was scheduled to meet BJP national president J.P. Nadda and Union home minister Amit Shah.
