Ramchander Dares Tummala over Artificial Urea Shortage amid Farmer Distress
In a rally attended by party leaders, including Mahbubnagar MP D.K. Aruna, Ramchander Rao urged farmers to hold the Congress accountable in the polls and “teach a lesson” to a government he said had failed to fulfil its promises.

Hyderabad: BJP’s Telangana unit president, N. Ramchander Rao, on Sunday challenged agriculture minister Tummala Nageshwar Rao for a public debate on the alleged artificial shortage of urea fertiliser plaguing the state’s farmers.
Speaking to reporters in Gadwal, Ramchander Rao claimed that Telangana is uniquely facing this shortage and held the Congress-led state government responsible for the crisis.
He emphasised that the Central government had supplied 12.2 lakh metric tonnes of urea — surpassing the state’s requested allocation of 9.5 lakh metric tonnes — and questioned the fate of the unaccounted 2.5 lakh metric tonnes amid the current scarcity. “Farmers deserve answers from the Congress government on this discrepancy and the ongoing shortage,” he said firmly.
Accusing the Revanth Reddy administration of deflecting blame onto the Centre to mask its own inefficiency, especially with local elections approaching, Ramchander Rao also alleged that state officials were colluding with middlemen, fostering black marketing and spreading misinformation among farmers.
In a rally attended by party leaders, including Mahbubnagar MP D.K. Aruna, Ramchander Rao urged farmers to hold the Congress accountable in the polls and “teach a lesson” to a government he said had failed to fulfil its promises.
He called on diverse groups — farmers, students, women, and marginalised communities — to support the BJP for a prosperous future.
On a two-day outreach tour across Mahabubnagar, Gadwal, Wanaparthy, and Nagarkurnool, Ramchander Rao viewed the 124th episode of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Mann Ki Baat” alongside senior leaders.
Speaking in Wanaparthy, he criticised the government’s failure to resolve people’s problems, release a job calendar for unemployed youth, and compensate displaced persons who lost land due to development projects in the erstwhile Mahabubnagar district, demanding jobs for those affected.
He also highlighted the rising drug abuse among youth as a serious threat attributed to government negligence, stressing that Telangana, born of public sacrifice, should pursue development rather than decline into what he called a “Drunk Telangana.” Ramchander Rao also visited the Gurukul School in Uyyalawada, where 50 students reportedly suffered food poisoning.
