Ramagundam Sub-Treasury Officer in ACB net in bribe case

Hyderabad: Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) here on Thursday caught red-handed A Maheshwar, a Sub-Treasury Officer at Ramagundam in Peddapalli district, along with his office subordinate Reddavena Pavan Sai, when they allegedly demanded and accepted a bribe of Rs.10,000 from a complaint.

Maheshwar and Sai, both natives of erstwhile Karimnagar district, planned to share the bribe amount by distributing it into Rs.9,000 and Rs.1,000, respectively. The bribe was demanded for showing an official favour to complete the process and sanction pension pertaining to the complainant

The bribe amount of Rs.10,000 was recovered from the possession of Sai. The fingers of both hands of Sai yielded positive in the chemical test. The ACB officials said that both Maheshwar and Sai performed their duty improperly and dishonestly to obtain undue advantage and added that the duo was arrested and produced before the special court for ACB cases in Karimnagar after which the court remanded them to judicial custody.

The officials further stated that the details of the complainant were withheld for security reasons.
