Ramagundam CP Seeks Bankers’ Cooperation To Curb Crime At Banks, ATMs

Ambar Kishore Jha said the Peddapalli zone had 109 banks and 79 ATMs, while the Mancherial zone had 109 banks and 89 ATMs.

Karimnagar:Ramagundam police commissioner Ambar Kishore Jha has called for coordination between banks and the police to prevent crime at banks and ATMs in the commissionerate limits.

The CP held a review meeting with bank officials and police officers at the commissionerate office in Godavarikhani, Peddapalli district, on Monday to discuss security arrangements at banks and ATMs.

Ambar Kishore Jha said the Peddapalli zone had 109 banks and 79 ATMs, while the Mancherial zone had 109 banks and 89 ATMs.

A police security audit found that some banks had installed substandard CCTV cameras at ATMs and that security guards were absent at some locations.

The CP directed banks to ensure round-the-clock security at ATMs and install quality CCTV cameras and alarm systems. He also advised police officers to provide special training to bank staff on responding to emergencies.

He asked banks to provide door frame metal detectors (DFMDs) and hand-held metal detectors (HHMDs) to security guards and maintain complete details of the guards deployed at their premises.

Observing that miscreants could steal or damage digital video recorders (DVRs) to destroy evidence, he advised banks to keep them in concealed locations.

The CP also asked bank officials to inform the police in advance before replenishing cash at ATMs so that nearby Blue Colts and patrolling vehicle personnel could be alerted.
