Rain Brings Brief Relief After Week Of 42°C

Earlier in the day, intense heat conditions prevailed across Telangana. The highest temperature in the state was 45.4°C at Mendora in Nizamabad district.

Hyderabad: Light to moderate rain brought some relief to parts of Hyderabad on Tuesday night after nearly a week of temperatures hovering around 42°C, even as several districts in Telangana continued to record severe heat during the day.

According to Telangana Development Planning Society (TGDPS), highest rainfall was reported in Sangareddy district, with 20.5 mm at RC Puram (Ramachandrapuram) and 17.3 mm at BHEL Factory. In the districts, Mancherial recorded 20 mm at Bheemaram, while Rangareddy saw 16.8 mm at Lingampally and 12.3 mm at Chandanagar. Kumuram Bheem district recorded up to 16.5 mm at Dahegaon. Several other areas, including Bachupally, Asifabad, Gachibowli and Maisaipet, recorded between 5 mm and 10 mm rainfall.

Despite the showers, the overall rainfall across the state remained low, with TGDPS classifying most districts under “very light” rain, while many districts including Hyderabad recorded no rain in cumulative terms through the day.

Earlier in the day, intense heat conditions prevailed across Telangana. The highest temperature in the state was 45.4°C at Mendora in Nizamabad district. Jagtial recorded 45.3°C, while several districts including Nirmal and Siddipet touched 44.7°C. The state’s average maximum temperature stood at 41.4°C.

In Hyderabad, temperatures remained above normal, with a city average of 41.4°C. The highest temperature within GHMC limits was 42.6°C at Musheerabad, followed by 42.4°C in Mehdipatnam, LB Nagar and Begumpet, and around 42°C across most circles.

While the late evening showers offered temporary relief, high daytime temperatures continue across the state, indicating that heatwave conditions are likely to persist in several districts.
