IT, ITeS Firms Urged To Consider Staggering Timings Or WFH Option In Monsoon

Moderate to heavy rain with thunderstorms is expected in the evening or at night in Cyberabad

Hyderabad: To address the traffic woes arising during monsoon in IT corridor and its surroundings, the Cyberabad traffic police are requesting the IT and ITeS companies to implement staggered office timings or Work From Home (WFH) mode for employees whenever there is heavy rain forecast in the city.

The request was made in view of traffic woes faced by the employees after rain lashed the city in the past few days disrupting vehicular movement.

Cyberabad Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, Traffic G Hanumantha Rao said they made the request through Society for Cyberabad Security Council (SCSC), which operates in tandem with the police to promote security and traffic safety of employees in the IT corridor in Cyberabad.

The companies are expected to take a decision depending upon the requirements of their clients in the US and other foreign countries. The police are giving rain alerts through its @CYBTRAFFIC twitter handle and highlighting the safety and avoiding congestion.

“As we are giving rain forecasts one day in advance and sometimes in the morning, the companies can either ensure staggered timings for employees’ or provide WFH option,” he explained. He further stated that as many as 12 lakh employees were working in various IT and ITeS companies in Madhapur and adjoining areas and it would be difficult for the administration to tackle the movement of vehicles if all employees logout at the same time.

“It will be even more difficult to manage traffic when it rains heavily,” he said.

In a tweet, the Cyberabad police asked the companies in the IT corridor to consider WHF mode on Tuesday in view of the rain alert. In an advisory, the police said an alert has been issued for heavy rains in the Cyberabad. Considering the safety, productivity, traffic congestion and to ensure uninterrupted emergency services, the companies may consider following Work from Home (WFH) mode on Tuesday.
“We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in this matter,” Cyberabad Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Dr. Gajarao Bhupal said in a tweet.

In another tweet, the police said, “Weather forecast - moderate to heavy rain with thunderstorms is expected in the evening or at night. Please plan your travel accordingly.”
