Railway Police Organized Passenger Awareness on Dangers of Carrying Inflammables

Officials particularly advised Ayyappa devotees not to light agarbattis or dhoop inside trains.

Hyderabad:In the wake of recent fire incidents, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) on Tuesday organised a passenger awareness programme on safety measures and the dangers of carrying inflammable materials, at the Secunderabad railway station.

Officials particularly advised Ayyappa devotees not to light agarbattis or dhoop inside trains. The teams also conducted preventive checks on platforms and in trains with the assistance of the dog squad. No suspicious or inflammable material was found.

The awareness drive was led by Secunderabad RPF CI B.S. Saraswat, SI M. Venkata Reddy and GRP CI Saieshwar Goud.

Passengers were educated on basic safety precautions, including avoiding food from strangers, not carrying valuable items during journeys, and refraining from sitting at train doorways. They were also informed about the Railway toll-free helpline number 139 for any assistance.

Officials cautioned passengers against allowing children to fly kites near railway tracks or placing foreign objects such as iron rods and stones on the tracks, warning that such acts pose serious risks to passenger safety and attract legal action.
