Pushkar Ghats At Dharmapuri Inundated

Minister for social welfare, Adluri Laxman Kumar, inspected the rising water levels at the Godavari riverbank in Dharmapuri.

KARIMNAGAR: With the release of water from the Sri Ram Sagar (SRSP) and Kadem projects, the Godavari River has risen significantly and is flowing at a dangerous level near the Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple in Dharmapuri, Jagtial district, on Wednesday. Several Pushkar Ghats have been inundated. Authorities have warned people living in low-lying areas, and barricades have been set up along the riverbank.

Minister for social welfare, Adluri Laxman Kumar, inspected the rising water levels at the Godavari riverbank in Dharmapuri. He instructed municipal, revenue, and police officials to monitor the situation closely and keep the public continuously informed. The minister directed them to prevent devotees from entering the river, deploy expert swimmers on standby, and ensure residents of vulnerable areas are moved to safer locations in advance. He also asked officials to report any emergencies to him immediately.

Strict safety measures have been implemented at the Kotilingala Koteswara Swamy Temple under the supervision of Dharmapuri circle inspector Ram Narsimha Reddy. Devotees have been urged to strictly follow the instructions of temple officials.

Meanwhile, villagers of Tungoor and Kandlapalli in the Dharmapuri constituency have expressed concern over the dangerous condition of the Peddavagu bridge. Continuous heavy rains have eroded the soil, creating large potholes on the bridge, which serves as a vital link for residents of Rangasagar and Kandlapalli and is also used daily by school buses. Villagers questioned who would be held responsible if an accident occurred and urged authorities to take immediate action to repair the bridge.
