Priyanka Ala Assumes Charge as New Hyderabad District Collector

An IAS officer of the 2016 batch, Priyanka has previoujsly worked as collector of Bhadradri Kothagudem district.

Hyderabad: Priyanka Ala took charge as Hyderabad district collector on Sunday. An Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the 2016 batch, she has previoujsly worked as collector of Bhadradri Kothagudem district, secretary of the Telangana Public Service Commission and as Khairatabad zonal commissioner in the GHMC.

Mukunda Reddy Takes Charge as Spl Sec I&PR

Hyderabad: IAS officer G. Mukunda Reddy assumed charge as special secretary, information and public relations, at the Secretariat on Sunday. He was appointed in the reshuffle of officers last week. He was formerly GHMC zonal commissioner and transferred to the I&PR department post after incumbent special commissioner Ch Priyanka was transferred.

Dr Gayatri Palat Chosen for 33rd Yudhvir Foundation Memorial Award

Hyderabad: The 33rd Yudhvir Foundation Memorial Award will be presented to Dr Gayatri Palat for her work in palliative care and efforts to reduce human suffering. The award will presented by Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla on April 30 at FTCCI’s KLN Prasad Auditorium in Red Hills. The award carries a citation and a cash prize of `1 lakh.

Dr Palat, trained in anaesthesiology and palliative care, helped set up the department of palliative medicine at the Mehdi Nawaj Jung Institute of Oncology and worked to include palliative care in state health policy.

She was also involved in starting paediatric palliative care at Niloufer Hospital and helped expand services across all 33 districts between 2017 and 2022. She is a founder member of the Pain Relief and Palliative Care Society in Hyderabad.

The Yudhvir Foundation, set up in 1991 commemorating renowned journalist and a dedicated social worker Yudhvir, presents the award annually on April 30 to recognise work in public service, culture and other fields.
