Prajavani programme sees raw human emotions

Hyderabad: Physically disabled persons, who came to the Prajavani programme at Jyotirao Phule Praja Bhavan on Friday, lauded the government's grievance redressal initiative, saying they now have hope for a better life.
"I am happy that the government is helping people like me, who are facing a difficult situation," said J. Narasimha Reddy, 60, a disabled person from Ebbanoor village in Vikarabad district.
Narasimha Reddy submitted his application for a battery-powered wheelchair. “I have been living with a disability for the 15 years. I am happy that the government is helping poor and disabled people like me who are struggling financially. These initiatives give us hope to live,” he said.
He has been assured of a wheelchair within three to four days that will be provided at the Vikarabad collectorate. “I will not have to travel a long distance to collect it,” he said.
S. Anu, from Musheerabad, who is polio-affected, also had been requesting a battery wheelchair for long. “I never received any support. If I get a wheelchair, I can work independently,” said Anu, who works as a tailor. She stated she was abandoned by her parents when she was a child.
Officials informed her that her application was being processed, and she would receive a call within a week to collect the wheelchair from the welfare of disabled persons Office in Malakpet.
The Prajavani programme received 3,053 applications on Friday, mostly related to the Indiramma housing scheme which starts on January 26. Dr. Chinna Reddy, in-charge of Prajavani programme, received applications and contacted the officials concered over the phone for problem which could be resolved quickly.
