Praja Palana celebrations at Hyderabad Zoo

Hyderabad: As part of Praja Palana – Praja Vijayotsavalu and World Wildlife Conservation Day, Nehru Zoological Park hosted a series of events to educate visitors about biodiversity conservation and sustainable practices.

A wildlife-themed drawing and painting competition saw participation from 120 students across eight schools, while a plantation drive at the black vuck enclosures involved curator J. Vasantha, IFS, and zoo staff planting saplings of native tree species like ‘juvvi’ and ‘marri’.

A pottery workshop under the “Green Banner Education” initiative engaged 900 participants, encouraging eco-friendly practices. The day concluded with a snake awareness programme at the amphitheatre near the reptile house, attended by 1,000 visitors, which highlighted the ecological importance of reptiles.
