Power Staff Resent Unilateral Transfers

The committee noted that general transfers were proposed for May-June 2026. However, managements are now pushing ahead with transfers in January without holding discussions.

HYDERABAD: The Telangana Power Employees Joint Action Committee (TGPEJAC) has urged the state government to stop unilateral decisions on transfers in power utilities such as TGSPDCL and TGNPDCL, and to consult unions before finalising guidelines.

In a memorandum submitted to the special principal secretary for energy on Friday, committee chairman G. Saibabu, convener P. Ratnakar Rao, and secretary-general E. Sridhar highlighted unrest among employees over the issue.

The committee noted that general transfers were proposed for May-June 2026. However, managements are now pushing ahead with transfers in January without holding discussions. The unions criticised the policy mandating transfers for all employees after two years of service, and instead advocated for a three-year threshold to ensure stability.

The committee demanded in-charge promotions for artisans in southern discom’s operation and maintenance wing, grade upgrades for artisans, and similar promotions for engineers and staff in TG Genco and TG Transco. “Unilateral guidelines without inputs from unions erode the trust essential for round-the-clock power supply,” the committee said in its statement.

The JAC has called on the government to hold talks by January 24 evening to revise the guidelines before implementing transfers, warning of further action if their demands are ignored.
