Power Official Calls Ramanthapur Mishap a One-Off Incident
Officials assure precautions; call Ramanthapur chariot tragedy a rare mishap

Hyderabad: Power supply to high-tension lines, particularly along procession routes, is disconnected as a precautionary measure during Ganesh Nimmajjanam, said a senior power official.
“At several junctions, we have already undertaken underground cabling works,” he said, adding that people need not panic as safety arrangements will be in place during the processions.
Commenting on the Ramanthapur tragedy, the official described it as an extremely rare incident caused by a chain of unusual circumstances.
“It was a combination of unlikely factors — the diesel in the generator running out, forcing people to push the chariot; the chariot being made of metal; and the cable wire positioned above the high-tension line, whereas normally cables are laid below them. All these together created a one-in-a-million situation,” he explained.
