Power Infrastructure to Be Strengthened Ahead of Rabi, Summer Demand

Hanamkonda: TGNPDCL chairman and managing director Karnati Varun Reddy, IAS, directed officials to take advance measures to meet the anticipated rise in power demand during the coming Rabi and summer seasons and ensure uninterrupted supply of quality power.

He directed officials to identify overloaded 33 kV and 11 kV feeders and expedite conductor upgrades, construction of new substations, installation of additional PTRs and augmentation of transformer capacity wherever required.
Officials were asked to identify DTRs operating at more than 60 per cent load in advance and take measures to augment their capacity or install additional DTRs. Load balancing should be carried out based on tong tester readings, he said.
He also instructed officials to install capacitor banks and cells wherever necessary to improve the power factor and complete pending interlinking works to ensure alternative power supply arrangements.
In major towns, 11 kV feeders should be developed under the ring-main system to facilitate quick restoration of supply during interruptions. Covered conductors should be installed wherever required, he said.
Reddy directed officials to complete all pending work orders at the earliest.
