Hyderabad: Postmen delivering letters, Aadhaar cards, passports, and parcels in the GHMC area are facing several challenges, especially in gated communities, high-rise apartments, and buildings managed by Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs). Issues like security restrictions, denial of lift access, and lack of parking space for delivery vehicles are causing delivery delays and public complaints.
Responding to the matter raised by the Postmaster General of Hyderabad Region, the GHMC Commissioner has issued clear instructions to all Zonal and Deputy Commissioners to ensure RWAs:
Allow postmen unrestricted access for doorstep delivery.
Permit the use of passenger lifts without restrictions.
Provide safe and proper parking for delivery vehicles.
Install and maintain standard letterboxes as per the Post Office Act, 2023.
India Post also informed that delivery staff are trained and equipped with mobile phones and GPS to ensure timely and accurate deliveries. In case residents are unavailable, they are encouraged to give written authorization for alternative delivery.
Residents can also use the "Know Your Pincode" service (https://dac.indiapost.gov.in/mypincode) or file complaints through India Post’s online portal, helpline (18002666868), or official social media pages.
Authorities urged all RWAs and citizens to cooperate with delivery staff to ensure smooth and timely postal service. The media has been requested to help spread awareness widely.
