Postal Ballot Breaks Tie For Sarpanch Poll In Nirmal
Election officials opened the postal ballots to break the tie and found a single vote, which was cast in favour of Sriveda, leading to her election.

ADILABAD: Muthyala Sriveda was elected sarpanch of Bagapur gram panchayat in Lokeshwaram mandal of Nirmal district after a postal ballot gave her a one-vote edge. She and her nearest rival, Arsha Swati, had earlier secured 180 votes each in the polling.
Election officials opened the postal ballots to break the tie and found a single vote, which was cast in favour of Sriveda, leading to her election.
In another incident, Congress-supported Jadi Kaveri and BRS-backed Rajanikanth, who contested for the sarpanch post of Veervelli gram panchayat in Kautala mandal of Komaram Bheem Asifabad district, secured 204 votes each. Jadi Kaveri was elected sarpanch through a coin toss.
A similar situation was reported from Lambadi (K) Tanda in Kasipet mandal of Mancherial district, where Bhukya Ramchander, supported by MLA Vinod, and Banoth Balaram, backed by MLA Kokkirala Premsagar Rao, received an equal number of votes in the sarpanch election. Balaram was declared elected following a coin toss.
