Ponnam Urges RTC Employee Union Against Strike

The TGSRTC management also issued an open letter to employees, urging them to cooperate in safeguarding the organization.

Hyderabad: Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar has urged the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) workers to reconsider their planned strike. During a meeting with INTUC trade union leaders on Tuesday, the minister stated that the RTC is in a recovery phase and a strike would cause significant inconvenience to the public. He assured the leaders that workers' concerns would be raised with the Chief Minister.

The TGSRTC management also issued an open letter to employees, urging them to cooperate in safeguarding the organization. The management highlighted its commitment to resolving employee issues with government support, noting that the RTC is on a path to recovery following a challenging period. It referenced the 2019 strike, which plunged the corporation into crisis, and cautioned against being swayed by groups advocating for disruption.
The management also reminded employees that strikes are prohibited under the Essential Services Maintenance Act (ESMA). It warned that strict legal action would be taken against anyone threatening or obstructing workers in the name of a strike.
