Ponnam Reviews Arrangements for Ganesh Festival in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar on Tuesday said that elaborate arrangements were being for the smooth conduct of the 11-day Ganesh festival in the city
Reviewing the arrangements to be made for the festival, Prabhakar, who is also Hyderabad in-charge Minister, called upon the people to celebrate the festival on a spectacular note. At the same time, the officials of various departments, especially the police, municipal, electricity and R&B among others must ensure proper coordination for making all the arrangements.
“It is the responsibility of the district administration to ensure necessary precautions at the pandals to avoid traffic problems and associated issues, if any,” he said, adding that vehicles must be provided for organizers on the procession day apart from supplying power to the pandals.
He recalled that the Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy provided free power supply for Ganesh pandals last year. The State government would make all arrangements for the festival as it is the biggest celebration taking place in the State capital, the Minister said.
Municipal officials in a power-point presentation explained in detail the steps being taken for successful conduct of the festival. The GHMC kept a cutoff date for completing each work related to the festival and immersion of Ganesh idols in various lakes and ponds in twin cities and its suburbs.
Referring to potholes on various roads, officials said that priority has been accorded to repair potholes using concrete material and works have already been commenced.
Responding to GHMC’s plans, Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Samithi general secretary Ravinuthala Shashidhar, who was also present in the meeting, appreciated municipal officials for preparing a detailed action plan along with the cutoff dates for completing them.
Director-General of Police Jitender, Hyderabad Police Commissioner CV Anand, Cyberabad Police Commissioner Avinash Mohanty, Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi and other officials were present.
