Ponnam Leads Husnabad Anti-Drug Rally

“The drugs may provide a brief moment of happiness, but they ultimately ruin a person's life": BC welfare minister Ponnam Prabhakar

KARIMNAGAR: “The drugs may provide a brief moment of happiness, but they ultimately ruin a person's life. A temporary high can lead to a lifetime of addiction, making the individual a burden to their families,” said BC welfare minister Ponnam Prabhakar.

The minister participated in an anti-drug rally in the Husnabad Assembly constituency of Karimnagar district on Wednesday. The event was organised under the supervision of Siddipet Police Commissioner Anuradha. A large number of police personnel, political leaders, students, and youth took part in the rally, which marched from Malle Chettu Chowrasta to the Ambedkar statue.

The rally was part of the nationwide ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan’ (Drug-Free India Campaign), aimed at combating drug abuse. During the event, minister Ponnam Prabhakar urged the public to become anti-drug advocates and take a strong stand against narcotics. He encouraged people to report any drug use they witness by calling the 1908 helpline or informing local police.

The minister emphasised the importance of preventing the spread of drug use and urged everyone to embrace the slogan: “Say No to Drugs, Cherish Life.” Later, he administered a pledge to students and youth, encouraging them to stay away from drugs and adopt a healthy, drug-free lifestyle.
