Ponnam Flags Off 67 Electric Buses
The RTC has started bus services for 373 new colonies in the city, benefiting about 7,61,200 citizens. Out of 373 colonies, 243 colonies are from Hyderabad region and 130 colonies from Secunderabad region.

Hyderabad: As a part of its vision to make bus transport emission-free within the Outer Ring Road, transport minister Ponnam Prabhakar flagged off 67 new electric buses. The corporation will add 175 more electric buses in January.
After the introduction of new buses on Wednesday, the size of TGSRTC’s electric bus fleet increased to 810. Of this, 540 EV buses operate in Hyderabad.
The RTC has started bus services for 373 new colonies in the city, benefiting about 7,61,200 citizens. Out of 373 colonies, 243 colonies are from Hyderabad region and 130 colonies from Secunderabad region.
Addressing the gathering at the Rani Gunj bus depot, the transport minister said, "The main objective of TGSRTC is to meet the transport needs of the people in line with the expansion of the city… We selected 373 colonies after conducting extensive field surveys and in accordance with the requests and needs of the people.”
He said the increased connectivity from these colonies to job centres like IT corridor and financial district will save travel time and cost for employees. People should not rely on their own vehicles and use safe RTC services.
In Hyderabad region (depot wise): Dilsukhnagar: 55 colonies (highest) Rajendranagar: 51 colonies. Midhani: 42 colonies .Bandlaguda: 34 colonies. Mehdipatnam: 17 colonies. Ibrahimpatnam: 14 colonies. Hayatnagar-1: 12 colonies. Hayatnagar-2: 10 colonies. Falaknuma: 7 colonies. Maheshwaram: 1 colony.
Secunderabad Region (Depot wise): Jeedimetla: 36 colonies. Chengicherla: 25 colonies. Kukatpally: 21 colonies. Medchal: 10 colonies. Uppal: 10 colonies. HCU: 8 colonies. Miyapur-2: 7 colonies. Cantonment: 6 colonies. Raniganj: 4 colonies. Kushaiguda: 3 colonies.
