Ponguleti Vows Affordable Housing

Hyderabad: Revenue and housing minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy on Saturday said that the government will shortly unveil a new affordable housing policy. He stated that houses will be constructed around 100 acres between the ORR and the regional ring road, akin to the houses at Kukatpally housing board.

He was speaking after an interaction with the housing minister from Himachal Pradesh Rajesh Dharmani in the secretariat. Reddy sought to know details of housing schemes being executed in Himachal Pradesh.

Reddy said that the state government was mulling to take up affordable housing schemes in the PPP mode.

He said in a release later that steps are being taken to safeguard lands belonging to the housing board. Efforts are also underway to resolve land disputes pending in various courts in accordance with the AP Reorganisation Act, 2014.

“Our endeavour is to provide houses to all. We are aiming to build 20 lakh Indiramma houses in the next four years.”

Even as Hyderabad is emerging as a global city alongside Secunderabad and Cyberabad, a Future City is to be developed over 15,000 acres, the minister said.
