Nalgonda: Revenue minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy on Wednesday urged the Centre to act against those involved in the alleged NEET question paper leak and ensure justice to students.
Speaking at a ‘Praja Darbar’ programme in Kusumanchi, he said the NEET examination conducted on May 3 for medical admissions, involving around 23 lakh candidates, was cancelled following allegations of a paper leak.
The minister alleged that the leak had impacted around 70,000 students in Telangana and called on the Union government to take action against those responsible. “On behalf of the state government, I am urging the Centre to do justice to the students, who prepared for NEET examination by spending lakhs of rupees for the coaching and preparation,” he said.
He also referred to earlier examination irregularities in Telangana, including question paper leaks in recruitment tests conducted by the Telangana Public Service Commission during the previous BRS government, alleging lack of action at the time.
Srinivas Reddy said the present state government has appointed officials in the commission to ensure error-free recruitment and facilitate filling of vacancies.
He added that a large number of applications for Aasara pensions were received during the Praja Darbar and indicated that decisions on new sanctions would be announced.
