Ponguleti Releases Rs 14.44 Crore for Indiramma Houses

Beneficiaries receive direct transfers upon reaching construction milestones, Rs.1 lakh for basement, Rs.2 lakh for walls and Rs.4 lakh for slabs.

Hyderabad: Housing minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy on Monday disbursed Rs.14.44 crore to beneficiaries of Indiramma houses as part of weekly disbursements and interacted with them via video conference. Beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the Congress government describing the scheme as a long-awaited dream come true.

“We never even imagined owning a home. We’ve lived in huts and tin sheds for over a decade. Now, with Rs.4 lakh assistance under this scheme, our house is nearly complete. Please come to our housewarming ceremony along with Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, we’ll cook a traditional meal for you," one of the beneficiaries told the minister.

Srinivas Reddy responded warmly, saying such heartfelt invitations reflect the sentiment of thousands of beneficiaries across the state. “These stories show the deep impact of the Indiramma housing scheme,” he said.

During the one-and-a-half-hour session, beneficiaries from Khammam, Kodangal and Nirmal shared similar gratitude. Uma from Khammam said, “Our dream has come true, thanks to Revanth Reddy sir.” Lakshmi from Nagireddypally added, “We struggled for years. Now, we’ve received Rs.2 lakh for the slab stage. We invite you to celebrate with us.”

Srinivas Reddy said that under the scheme, over Rs.68 crore has been disbursed to date. Of the 47,335 houses sanctioned, 7,824 are at the basement stage, 895 at wall construction and 64 have reached slab level. Beneficiaries receive direct transfers upon reaching construction milestones, Rs.1 lakh for basement, Rs.2 lakh for walls and Rs.4 lakh for slabs.

Despite financial hurdles inherited from the previous BRS government, the minister said the Congress government remains committed to weekly fund disbursement, and added that no beneficiary should experience delays. Construction is now underway in nearly 250 mandals. Beneficiaries build their homes based on plot size and preferences, with technical support from government engineers.
