Ponguleti Calls for War on Fake Seeds, Fertilisers

Warangal: The state government is committed to eradicate the sale of fake seeds and fertilisers in the state, said in-charge minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy as he ordered district collectors and police officials to work in coordination and take stringent steps.
Accompanied by the endowment minister Konda Surekha along with MLAs and MPs and district collectors, Srinivas Reddy chaired a review meeting on paddy procurement, Indiramma Houses and Bhu Bharati here at Collectorate conference hall in Hanamkonda on Thursday.
Speaking on the occasion, minister Srinivas Reddy said that if anyone is found selling fake seeds and fertilisers, irrespective of their position, immediate action should be taken against them, apart from imposing PD Act.
Telangana stood top in position in the country in paddy procurement both in Kharif and Rabi seasons. The government completed 85 percent of the paddy procurement process across the state till date. But because of the pre-monsoon, heavy rains occurred due to which paddy in some areas got wet. The issue will be taken to the notice of the Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and will be resolved very soon, he assured the farmers.
To fulfil the dreams of poor families, the Congress government introduced the Indiramma Housing Scheme. The proceedings for the beneficiaries will be handed over by June 6ht in the first phase. A buffer list of beneficiary names for the Indiramma Housing scheme must be prepared without any delay. There is no age limit for beneficiaries. The bills related to Indiramma House construction will be deposited into bank accounts of beneficiaries every Monday evening.
As the issue of Sada Bainama is before the court, the decision on the matter will be made once the court holidays conclude. The Village Revenue Officer (VRO) test has been completed and those who passed the examination will be appointed as VROs on June 2. There is a need to protect the government lands, Stern action will be taken against those who harass farmers or landowners, he warned.
Srinivas Reddy stressed that the people’s welfare is most important to the government. Revenue conference will be held from June 3 to June 20 during which applications from the people will be received and the issues will be resolved by August 15.

Endowment Minister Konda Surekha said that there is a need to include farmers alongside officials in committees that will be established to curb fake seeds and fertilisers. The Task Force Committee formed to prevent sale of fake seeds and fertilisers should operate actively with continuous vigilance along with taking strict measures to prevent the diversion and black market of fake seeds and fertilisers.
