Revenue minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy directed officials to ensure transparent revenue services and speed up construction of Indiramma houses in Telangana.

Revenue minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy on Monday directed revenue officials to ensure transparency and accessibility in revenue services.

On a visit to Nirmal district, he said the government is committed to making Telangana hut-free by replacing huts with Indiramma houses.

“We are taking steps to provide Indiramma houses to 73,000 poor people living in huts. Plans are also to construct two lakh Indiramma houses in the second phase, in addition to the 4.5 lakh houses sanctioned in the first phase,” he said.

He and tourism minister Jupally Krishna Rao jointly laid foundation stones for development works worth `23.35 crore in Nirmal district.

The ministers reviewed the status of Indiramma house construction with housing and revenue officials from Adilabad, Nirmal, Mancherial and Komaram Bheem Asifabad districts. They discussed the reasons for delays and measures to speed up works for the pending houses in the region.

Addressing the review meeting, Srinivas Reddy said revenue officials should conduct land surveys effectively to provide a permanent solution to land disputes.

He said loans were being facilitated through self-help groups for poor beneficiaries to begin construction of Indiramma houses. He directed officials to resolve forest-related issues that were delaying construction in forest areas.

The revenue minister said a high-level meeting could be held in Hyderabad, if required, to resolve forest-related issues concerning Indiramma houses. Revenue and forest officials should jointly resolve land-related problems, he said.

Krishna Rao directed officials to ensure that welfare and development schemes reached all eligible beneficiaries and conduct gram sabhas to create awareness about land surveys and complete them on time. He called for a coordinated system at the village level to resolve people's problems.

He said forest-related issues concerning the construction of Indiramma houses had been brought to the government's notice and directed officials concerned to take steps to resolve them.

Chief commissioner of land administration Lokesh Kumar, special secretary to revenue Rajivgandhi Hanumanthu, housing special secretary PV Goutham, collectors, people’s representatives and ITDA project officer Manda Makarandu were present.
