Polytechnics Protest Merger Under SHAKTI
Faculty, staff and students of polytechnic colleges in Warangal and Hanamkonda protested against the proposed amalgamation of polytechnic education with the state government’s SHAKTI initiative.

Faculty members, staff, and students of polytechnic colleges in Warangal and Hanamkonda staged protests on Tuesday opposing their amalgamation with SHAKTI (Skill, Human Capital, and Knowledge Training Initiative) of the state government.
Staff of the Government Polytechnic College in Hanamkonda wore black badges during the lunch break to register their protest. They said polytechnic education is a vital part of technical education in Telangana. They underlined the need to preserve its distinct identity and autonomy.
Under Shakti, polytechnic colleges, industrial training institutes (ITIs), and advanced technology centres (ATCs) are to be brought under the umbrella of Young India Skills’ University to align technical training with industry demands.
Separately, students of the Warangal Polytechnic College, under the aegis of PDSU and AIDSO, staged a protest at the Archi Junction on Bhadrakali Road against the proposed integration of polytechnic colleges under the SHAKTI system. They raised slogans against the government, demanding that polytechnic education be protected and not merged with SHAKTI.
The protesters have called on the government to consider the interests of students, faculty, and staff before taking any decision on the proposed merger.
