Political Leaders Expect SIR Anomalies to Decline After Corrections

Adilabad collector Rajarshi Shah said Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) were conducting field-level checks for no mapping and differences after serving notices to voters.

Adilabad: Major political parties believe the high number of anomalies found in enumeration forms under the special intensive revision (SIR) may come down after voters submit the required documents as proof.

Officials have found minor errors in the enumeration forms, mostly relating to names, surnames, age differences and spelling mistakes. Voters have been submitting documents to Booth Level Officers (BLOs) to retain their names on the electoral roll.

A senior Congress leader said, ‘The number of anomalies will come down once the small mistakes are corrected; however, the high number of anomalies is haunting them’.

Adilabad collector Rajarshi Shah said Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) were conducting field-level checks for no mapping and differences after serving notices to voters.

He said family members and relatives of voters could also attend the hearing and submit the required documents to retain their votes, adding that voters need not attend the hearing themselves.

The collector said voters who received notices must bring one of the specified certificates, including proof of date of birth, residence, government-issued house pattas, passport, caste certificate or ROFR patta, and submit them to the BLOs.

District officials are planning to conduct special camps till September 13 for voters whose names are not found in the new draft, as well as for corrections in names and other details in the electoral roll. Voters can submit Declaration Form 6 for fresh enrolment and Form 8 for additions and deletions to the respective BLOs.

According to official sources, 85,525 notices were generated out of 2,50,393 electors in the SIR process in the Adilabad Assembly constituency. In the Mancherial Assembly constituency, 68,195 notices were generated out of 2,83,299 electors, while in the Boath Assembly constituency, 64,900 notices were generated out of 2,16,391 electors.

BLOs are collecting documents from voters who received notices over differences and mistakes in their enumeration forms.
