Political Heat to Add to Summer Sizzle Next Week

The scheduling has riled the BRS which has accused the Chief Minister of trying to steal the BRS’ thunder.

Hyderabad:Political temperatures set to rise in the coming week adding to the sizzle of the summer with the BRS planning a public meeting to be addressed by its president K. Chandrashekar Rao at Jagitial next Monday. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has picked the same day for a visit to Medigadda barrage for an assessment of work there for the eventual repairs to the barrage. The scheduling has riled the BRS which has accused the Chief Minister of trying to steal the BRS’ thunder.

These two events come amidst a push by the BJP which has decided that the Congress is to be blamed for the BJP government at the Centre failing to push through its women’s reservation Bill which was linked to delimitation. Bringing up the rear of the week is Telangana Jagruthi president K. Kavitha, who is all set to launch her political party on Saturday.

Monday’s meeting at Jagitial, where former senior Congress leader T. Jeevan Reddy is set to formally join the BRS, is an event that will mark the resurgence of the BRS, party working president K.T. Rama Rao said in Jagitial on Saturday. He was quick to point out that the Chief Minister’s Medigadda visit was “a cheap tactic to grab media space and time” as he could have picked any other day.

“The wily foxes are scared because the lion is set to step out of its den. Just the fact that KCR is set to address his first public meeting in a year is enough to scare the Congress which is trying every trick in the book to create hurdles for the Jagitial meet. Revanth did not have the time to go to Medigadda in two and a half years, but suddenly has time for it on the day of KCR’s public meeting. This is a plan to deny KCR the media space he will otherwise get on that day,” Rama Rao said.

It is expected that while Chandrashekar Rao will target the Congress government for its alleged failures, he will be paid back in the same coin by the Chief Minister after his review of work at Medigadda barrage. The Chief Minister and the Congress government have long maintained that all problems at the Kaleshwaram barrages, Medigadda, Sundilla and Annaram, were a result of poor planning, and construction amidst massive corruption.

While both sides are expected to battle it in the following days, Kavitha is expected to try and stir the pot with the launch of her new party on April 25. She had already declared that her primary target will be the Congress government in the days and months to come.
