Political Battle Likely Ahead Over KLIS Notices to KCR, Harish, Etala
Notices to KCR and others ignite fierce debate over corruption and legacy

Hyderabad: A fresh political battle appears all set to consume the Congress, BRS, and the BJP in the coming days over the issue of the notices sent by the Justice P.C. Ghose commission of inquiry into the Kaleshwaram project barrages to BRS president and former chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, and former ministers in the then BRS government, T Harish Rao, and Etala Rajender who is now a BJP MP.
While several BRS leaders have reacted angrily to the notices issued to Chandrashekar Rao, Congress leaders have said there is no political vendetta on part of the government and that the inquiry commission was just doing its work.
Congress MLC Addani Dayakar, reacting to BRS’ allegations over the notices, said, “there is a need for the then CM, and then irrigation minister to explain to the commission their role and actions. Similarly, Rajendar as the then finance minister must explain what his role was. The Congress government has acted as per laws, appointed a commission which is doing its job.”
He also wondered if the BJP, which Rajendar joined and went on to become MP, will be able to save him. “Anyone who has done any mistake must go to prison. KCR says what happens if just one pillar subsides. All these three, KCR, Harish, and Etala deserve to go to prison in this case,” he said.
Former BRS MLA A. Jeevan Reddy and party MLC K. Kavitha, slammed the issuing of notices to Chandrashekar Rao saying it was “part of a calculated political conspiracy to tarnish the image of a true people’s leader. Kaleshwaram was built for the welfare of farmers and people. No vindictive government can diminish his legacy. The truth will prevail.”
Jeevan Reddy said it was Chandrashekar Rao who, through Kaleshwaram project, ensured irrigation to vast areas in the state. “The Congress government, despite not an iota of any proof of corruption in the project, has mounted a poisonous campaign against KCR. This government, which for nearly a year and a half could not do anything to repair the damages, has decided to target KCR and try to cover up its own failures,” he said.
