Political Allegations Emerge As CBI Takes Over Advocate Couple Murder Case
Congress hails decision, alleges BRS shielded culprits linked to double murder case

Karimnagar: The Supreme Court’s order of a CBI probe into the murder of High Court advocates Gattu Vaman Rao and his wife P.V. Nagamani has opened a new front in the political battle between the Congress and the BRS, with the ruling party leaders welcoming the decision and accusing the previous BRS government of protecting the culprits.
IT minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu in a statement released here on Tuesday welcomed the Supreme Court’s decision to transfer the murder case to the CBI and said the order renewed faith in the judicial system. He stated that true justice for the family would only be served when the culprits and “big people from the previous BRS government who helped them” are punished.
Sridhar Babu, who defeated BRS leader Putta Madhukar in the 2018 and 2023 Assembly polls, said the BRS government ignored the murder case and protected the offenders by not conducting an impartial investigation. It had ignored calls from people’s organisations and the Congress to hand over the case to the CBI.
The manner in which the couple was killed in full public view has not only shocked the state but made the High Court, where the victims were practicing, to take serious note. The court directed the state government to submit a complete report.
The alleged involvement of the local BRS leader Putta Madhukar, zilla parishad chairman and former MLA, and provided ground for the Opposition parties to question the BRS government. They questioned then-Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao for remaining silent and for not taking action and not even condemning the double murder.
Lawyers across the state staged protests, boycotted the courts and hit the streets, demanding that the BRS government take immediate action and punish the culprits.
Advocate Shashibushan Kache of Manthani told Deccan Chronicle that the legal community believed that handing over the probe to the CBI would bring to light the real facts of the case.
