Police Tighten Security Ahead of Messi GOAT Tour in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: As Hyderabad prepares to host football icon Lionel Messi’s match at the Uppal stadium on Saturday, Rachakonda police commissioner G. Sudheer Babu said elaborate security measures had been put in place at the 39,000-seat venue.

Addressing the media, the commissioner said about 2,500 police personnel from various wings would be deployed, including 300 traffic personnel, 1,492 from law and order staff, 18 platoons of TG Special Police and Armed Reserve, two Octopus teams, mounted police, Vajra vehicles, SB, CCS, SOT teams and four fire tenders with firefighting squads.

Gate No. 1 has been earmarked for players and VVIPs. Spectators will be permitted only through designated gates according to their tickets. An evacuation plan has been readied for emergency situations.

He said 450 CCTV cameras had been installed inside and around the stadium, including parking areas and checkpoints. A joint command and control room will monitor live feeds for real-time response.

Spectators will be admitted only on producing valid tickets with QR codes, which can be scanned only once and only if generated through the “District App”. Physical passes with barcodes issued to authorised personnel cannot be duplicated. Any unauthorised entry attempt will attract criminal action.

Dedicated SHE Teams/Anti-Eve-Teasing units will be deployed. Special teams will regulate vendors and check their rates.

Vehicle parking will be allowed only in designated lots, primarily the IILA parking. Gates will open three hours before the match, at 4 pm. Ambulances have been increased from three to five for medical emergencies. Vendor activity outside the stadium is prohibited, and special teams will act against black ticket sales.
