Adilabad: RTC employees continued their strike at the Adilabad bus depot on Friday, while tensions prevailed when police stopped BJP leaders from organising a Vanta Varpu programme to provide meals to the agitating workers.
A brief scuffle took place between BJP workers and police when party leaders and councillors, led by Payal Sharath, attempted to enter the depot to serve food to the striking employees.
Police, led by Adilabad DSP Jeevan Reddy, prevented them from proceeding with the programme.
RTC workers expressed displeasure over the police action, saying the BJP leaders were only trying to provide meals.
Police later took the BJP leaders to the police station and released them after some time. The RTC workers continued their protest.
